No English Menu , No truffle oil , No staff member standing outside trying to lure you in? Perfect. Sit Down — They’re Cooking for Locals, Not Tourists.
You walk in. No one greets you in English. The menu’s scribbled on a chalkboard, all in Italian. You don’t recognize a single dish — and that’s when you know: you’ve found the right place.
These are the restaurants that don’t show up on the “Top 10” lists. There’s no trendy signage, no “influencer table,” and definitely no truffle oil. Just a few tables, the clatter of forks and wine glasses, and food made the way someone’s nonna has done it for 50 years.
Don’t be surprised if the owner's teenage daughter is called over to help translate the menu.Or if you ask a question and suddenly the cook comes out of the kitchen to explain the secondi with flour on her hands.
