π Do NOT come to Italy without knowing this word.
If you are planning a trip here, sooner or later you will hear it: "SCIOPERO" (Strike).
It’s the #1 thing that stresses my American friends out. "Will I get stuck?" "How do I check?" "Why is the website only in Italian?!" π€―
Most tourists waste hours panic-googling in English and finding old news. Stop doing that.
Here is the 60-Second Tourist-Proof Method to check strikes like a local. (Save this post now so you don't lose it! π)
✅ Step 1: The "Secret" Search
Don't use English. Go to Google and type:
π Sciopero treni + [Your Date]
(Example: Sciopero treni 15 Maggio).
This pulls the official notices instantly.
✅ Step 2: The "Golden List" Go to the official Trenitalia or Italo website result and search for "Treni Garantiti". This means Guaranteed Trains. If your train number is on that PDF list, it runs. Period. You are safe. π‘️
✅ Step 3: The Commuter Hack Did you know? By law, trains usually run between 6:00am–9:00am and 6:00pm–9:00pm (commuter hours) even during a strike! Pro Tip: Book your crucial transfers during these times.
π‘ My Honest Advice: Strikes in Italy are announced in advance. Don't let the fear ruin your Dolce Vita. Just check the list, grab a cappuccino, and have a backup plan (like a bus or a private driver).
π I want to help you plan! Drop your travel month below! Are you coming in Spring or Summer? Let me know and I’ll tell you if it’s a busy season! ☀️π
Tag the person you are traveling with so they don't panic! π―♀️
