☕ Coffee Culture: How to save money & drink like a local
Did you know that in Italy, the price of your coffee changes depending on where you drink it?
If you sit at a table (Tavolo) in a popular piazza (like Piazza del Plebiscito or in Positano), you are paying for the service and the view. A cappuccino can cost €5.00 or more. This is normal here, it’s like "renting" the real estate!
BUT...
If you want to do it like a true Neapolitan, drink it standing at the counter (Banco). By law/custom, the price is much lower (usually between €1.20 and €1.50 for an espresso). It’s quick, authentic, and keeps you energized for sightseeing.
✅ Pro Tip: In busy bars, pay at the register (cassa) first, get your receipt (scontrino), and then slam it on the counter like a local to order your coffee! 😉
